This question is two questions in one.
(1) Save on removable memory buy buying the large capacity devices. They usually have a lower cost per GB.
(2) Save on removable memory by connecting it to the computer or device that holds the source data. Depending on your OS (operating system) if you connect it to a computer or device, the memory will appear as a drive on the computer or a source on the device. This is only general because I don't know if you are talking about flash, hard drives, memory sticks, SD, Zip, floppy, tape, with USB, proprietary or PC or etc. interfaces. Specific information is needed for a specific answer.
