I have a sulfa allergy. First found out when using a sulfa based eye drop for an infection. The whites of my eyes swelled up. Than I was given Phenergan for nausea in the hospital and within seconds my throat spelled shut. SO if you have a sulfa/sulfite allergy you may be allegeric to Phenothiozines as well.

∙ 13y agoMy allergic reaction horrible. I was fine until day 8 of THE treatment and i developed red bumps all over my body. This was a delayed reaction caused by the "sulfa" in the drugs. Many people are allergic to this. My symptoms are still going on and I have a terrible itch that will not go away. The doctor prescribed me steroids and anti itch pills 3 days ago and it only seems to be getting worse. I also hear that it can cause SjS and liver damage. If you develop a rash or have trouble breathing contact the doctor immediately.

∙ 12y agoI am allergic to sulpha and when I take it, I develop massive hives and unbearable itching. It depends on your body. Some people could develop shortness of breath, throat tightening and other symptoms that require emergency medical intervention. Each time your body is introduced to the allergen, your symptoms will worsen.
