Many things are inside the case of a computer, and some will just depend on your computer, but the hardware all computers have are:
The CPU, or central processing unit: This is often called the "brain" of your computer, for it is what makes all the other pieces of the computer do whatever you want it to do. It is one of the most expensive and important parts of a computer.
The CPU cooler: This piece cools down your CPU, since it gets very hot from the work it is given.
The motherboard: this is where all of the components of a computer are connected to. It transfers what the CPU wants something to do to that certain piece to execute the task. It would probably be something like the body in general or the nervous system in a human.
The RAM, or random access memory: This is where all your processes are stored. It is like the short term memory in humans, while you are using it, you remember it, but once you delete it, it is gone from your memory.
The power supply: To put it simply, it is what supplies the power for your computer. All it does is convert the unusable electricity from your home wall socket into a usable form of electricity and spreads it throughout your computer.
The next pieces are not necessary, but are in most computers:
The hard drive: This is the long term memory, where your files are saved onto, unless you delete it. All of your downloads, programs, files, documents, etc. are saved onto here.
The graphics card: Commonly mistaken as the GPU, or graphics processing unit, is what creates the images that you see on your monitor. It converts the code given to it from the CPU into the pictures that you see on your screen today. The GPU, is simply a part of the graphics card, the part that does most of the converting.
The optical drive: This is the cd/dvd/blu-ray player in your computer.
Now, for the optional items:
A sound card: Most motherboards these days have integrated sound built in to them, but if you are an audiophile or need very high quality music for some other reason, you will need a sound card. Most computers do not usually come with one, however.
Fans: To cool down your system and increase air flow.
Motherboard, Harddrive, Power unit & Disc drive
a computer is to remove power from a computer's main components in a controlled way. After a computer is shut down, main components such as CPUs, RAM modules and hard disk drives are powered down, although some internal components, such as an internal clock, may retain power.
In the case of a desktop computer a power supply that in turn plugs into a household outlet provides power to the internal components of the computer. In the case of a laptop or tablet a battery provides power.
Increases air flow which keeps internal components from overheating.
There are more than 3 components in a computer. An example of 3 components that every computer has: Motherboard, processor, memory.
They can induce current which can damage internal computer components.
You can probably do it yourself, but you will have to muddle around with internal components.
Yes it does. The heat comes from the internal components - not the air around it.
motherboard is the heart of the computer, also provide an area where the internal components can connect.
3 is the answer

A monitor is not normally considered hardware, the internal components of a computer are considered hardware.
A computer's power supply unit provides all needed voltages for the components of a computer that are internal. Externals either draw power from the USB bus (which in turn gets it's power from the aforementioned PSU or a Hub with a power supply) OR have their own internal power supply with a cable.
