According to Aristotle, the six elements of drama are character, action, idea, language, music and spectacle. Most plays in Western theater emphasize in particular one or two of these elements. Almost no play seeks to give thorough attention to all of these elements, but a few may manage to develop all six well: Les Misérables and Fiddler on the Roof for example. In addition to the classical six parameters, theatres of other cultures may emphasize other features. For instance, Noh theatre in Japan adds emotion as a major category; emic (insider's view) features of theater differ by culture.
