If you love your fix more than God, it is idolatry. If your substance abuse causes you to sin, then stop whatever causes you to sin. There is a group called Celebrate Christian Recovery that may be helpful. Harming or "defiling" oneself is not approved of. It is very hard to stop abusing substances without a spiritual path.
