For large worksheets that print on multiple pages, they will allow for a standard heading on them and the possibility of other details, such as page numbers on them. A printed header and footer does not actually appear on the worksheet itself. Any headings for that purpose must be put into cells on the worksheet.

∙ 11y agoThey are not essential to have. If a worksheet is being printed, you can have them in order to show some information. Included in the footer might be the page number, the total number of pages, the name of the worksheet or workbook, the date and time and other information that the user might want to put in themselves. In the header there might be information about the document, in the form of a main heading. The header and footer details will appear on all printed pages, which can save the user having to put some of this information directly onto the sheet. Quiet often a worksheet will not make use of headers and footers. It is the choice of the user.
