Best Answer

The names they have are the Roman names. Even for the Earth (Terra--Latin for dirt or land) and the Moon (Luna--the Latin for the Greek goddess of the moon, Selene). They are the Roman Names for the same Gods that would be different in Greek, with the exception of Uranus, which is the Greek name, literally the sky, son and husband of Gaia (the Earth), and the father of the gods.

Greek Translations:

  • Mercury = Hermes
  • Venus = Aphrodite
  • Mars = Ares
  • Jupiter = Zeus
  • Saturn = Chronos
  • Neptune = Posiedon
