Catholic AnswerThe usual vestment worn at Mass is a Chasuble. A priest might also wear a cope for a baptism, Vespers, Benediction, etc.The long and thin colored strip is called a "stole." It is worn over both shoulders by priests and bishops, and over just one shoulder by deacons. It is only worn by the ordained.
The poncho like vestment, colored according to the feast or liturgical season, is called a "chasuble."
The vestments that a priest wears during the Celebration of the Eucharist are an Alb, Cincture, Stole, and Chasuble. The vestments are traditionally laid out for the priest in the Sacristy (a room off the Sanctuary) in such a way he may easily dress. A prayer card is usually placed on top, so that he may recite the Liturgical Vesting Prayers. I do not have a copy with me, however, I found these traditional Vesting Prayers online.
As the priest dons each, he recites a prayer:
Alb Wash me clean, Lord, and cleanse me from my sin; that I may rejoice and be glad unendingly with them that have washed their robes in the blood of the Lamb. (Psalm 50, 3 and Apocalypse 7, 14)
Cincture Gird me, Lord, with the belt of faith, my loins with the virtue of chastity, and extinguish in them the humour of lust; that the strength of all chastity may ever abide in me.
Stole Restore to me, Lord, I beseech Thee, the stole of immortality, which I lost in the transgression of the first father; and, though unworthy I presume to approach Thy sacred mystery with this garment, grant that I may merit to rejoice in it forever.
Chasuble O Lord, who said: my yoke is sweet and my burden light: grant that I may be able so to bear it, so that I may be able to obtain Thy grace. (St. Matthew 11, 30)

During the liturgy, a deacon wears a white alb and a stole, like a priest does, but the deacons stole is worn over the left shoulder and hangs on his side (a priest's stole goes over both shoulders).
Over the alb and stole, the deacon can wear a dalmatic (a square garment with sleeves), and this is especially true on feast days, or by the principle deacon serving if more than one deacon has a role in the liturgy.
An alternative, especially in Eastern Catholic Churches, is an alb and broad stole. During Lent it is common for a deacon not to wear a dalmatic. They will most often wear the broad stole. However, some still use the pre-Vatican Council II practice of a folded chasuble pinned and worn in a similar manner as the broad stole.
Outside of the liturgy, the deacon has the canonical right to wear clerical suits, shirts, cassock etc, but is not required to do so if the deacon has a secular job. When engaging in ministry outside of the liturgy, the deacon may wear clerics or normal clothing.
In some places, custom maintains that the color of clerical garb is determined by marital status.
In hot tropical regions, white cassocks or clerical shirts may substitute for either black or grey.

Therobe that a priest wears is rather vague as he can wear a cassock on the street though most don't nowadays . When celebrating Mass he wears vestments of which the Chastibule is the outer garment and whose color changes according to the day. eg feast days is white martyers is red etc. under that he wears a stole which goes around his neck to the waist this is held in place by the cinture which is a rope type cord . Under this is the Alb which is white and extends to almost the top of his shoes .So we can choose from the Alb, the Chastibule or the Cassock
