What are the advantages and disadvantages of Lunch or Dinner interview?

A job interview should be about you and why you are perfect for the position.

An interview and a meal starts off with the premise that "I've gotta eat, so I might as well have an interview and expense the meal." The interviewer often justifies this advenure in terms of "I want to see how the interviewee handles himself in a social situation."

Enough can go wrong in any interview. Add to that list: ordering the "Wrong" meal for cost or alcohol content, spilling or dropping food, trying to eat and talk at the same time, finding out that after you've ordered "cerveaux de veau" that it is calf's brains and trying to choke it down, having spinach stuck in your teeth, not recognizing any food on the menu, not knowing which fork to use, commenting negatively on ethnic flavors that your host enjoys, watching your host eat instead of listening to your answers, having no place to hand over your extra paper work like references, being interrupted in your pitch of your good points by a waiter or the host's business acquaintance

As for the good points ... you probably won't have to pick up the tab. But what if you're expected to at least go Dutch? Do you have the card or cash to cover your share in either case?

Guess that wasn't a good point after all.
