voltage is termed as electrical pressure. when high voltage is applied more is the movement of electrons. hence losses will be less. this is one of the major reason for which high voltage transmission is chosen.

secondly due to high voltage the current will be less so as the conductor size

Using high voltage is dangerous and expensive however it means we don't lose a lot of energy or have to use thick wires.
