The Allied Physicians salary survey from 2003 to the present reports that neurological surgeons with one to two years of experience average $354,000 per year. Those with more than three years experience average $541,000 per year, and the maximum salary for neurosurgeons is $936,000 per year. It's also an interesting and prestigious job.

You cut up the brain or other neurological things -- some people enjoy that. You often get cheaper prices from other physicians. The two generally-recognized-as-smart people in the USA are "brain surgeons" or "rocket scientists." A neurosurgeon is a brain surgeon. So if you like cutting and like people recognizing you as smart, become a neurosurgeon.
