Actually it takes 5 or more. Seriously, it is because of the number of credit or semester hours required to complete your educational program. It can be completed in less time if the student is willing to jam in as many credit hours as possible.

Some people spend 7 years in College because they want to get a graduate degree that only takes 7 years to get. Also, maybe some people can't pass a class and need the time to really understand how it works or to learn the material.

They can and do graduate in four years quite often. Some even graduate in less than four years. It all depends on the curriculum you choose to take and how well you do in your classes as well as whether or not personal circumstances force you to take unexpected time off from school.

Actually, if you can acquire the number units needed to graduate from high school you don't need to go four years. The way it is set up you get 5 units per solid (you do need these to qualify for college entrance) and each year adds up to the number of needed units for graduation. I suggest you get with the program and not be in such a hurry to graduate. School isn't easy, but it can be fun and a place where you will learn and grow. My guess is that you are just starting your freshman year ( I apologize if I am wrong), but you will learn, grow, and change a great deal in the next four years. Just enjoy the experience you will never be this young again in your life.
