Parents need to read to their children from the moment they are born because this helps develop language and eventually reading skills. To talk with children about everything and to point out things like colors, numbers, letters, animals, counting games, alphabet games, word games, singing songs, and going to see places like the zoo and talking about the animals. To make and color things to help develop fine motor skills and to allow free play to develop gross motor skills. Not to depend on the TV for babysitting and not to allow the use of computers and smartphones to keep the child quiet. I think future research will show that these things change a child's brain.
Some working parents may spend more time with their children than they did before they worked, but some parents may have less time for their children.

Annie does not really babysit any bad children. Grayer X was a good child, but his parents did not spend any time with him which caused him alot of grief. She tries her best to get him to lighten up a little bit and get his parents to spend time with him, but it does not work.

In the old days and in the third-world parents spend an average of about 10 hours with their kids, even sleep with them. This has become less in our modern world and with working parents the amount recommended is a MINIMUM of 3 hours a day but many spend about an hour a day and far less for teenagers. The lack of "quality time" a family needs together may lead to the kids going on drugs, wacko and amok!
It depends on the child, but usually yes, kids spend more time watching tv/playing video games/updating their social networking page, than talking to their parents.

To spend more time at home with children, you must spend less time at work. This can be accomplished by opting for a part-time job, or seeing if your employer will allow you to do some work at home. Another possibility is for you to become the owner of a company so that you can delegate more responsibility to your workers.
Parents affect the life of a child the most. The parents affect a child by the way they treat them, love them, and how they spend their time with them. Children look to their parents before anyone else.
