The U.S. Census Bureau estimates that as of July 1, 2015 Memphis has become the second largest city in Tennessee with an estimated population of 653,450. In prior Census Bureau reports Memphis was the most populous city in Tennessee. Knoxville is the third most populous city in Tennessee with an estimated population of 185,291 as of July 1, 2015.
