Causes of increasing greenhouse gases:

  1. Burning fossil fuels, thus releasing into the atmosphere carbon that has been safely stored for millions of years by burning coal, oil and natural gas for transport and electricity.
  2. An enormous demand for electricity. The growing population of the earth all want cars, refrigerators, air-conditioning and a double garage. Most electricity is generated by burning coal.
  3. A constant and growing demand for red meat. Cattle belch out methane, a toxic greenhouse gas, much more dangerous than carbon dioxide. More and more forests and bushland, which absorb carbon dioxide from the air, are being cut down so more cattle can graze.
  4. A reduction in the planet's ability to remove greenhouse gases from the atmosphere. The earth has natural sources of carbon dioxide (a greenhouse gas), and has had long before mankind began altering the environment, but the earth has natural means to actually remove some greenhouse gases from the atmosphere, especially carbon dioxide which is removed by plants (especially dense, tall forests) through photosynthesis. Global deforestation by mankind means not only have we increased the output of greenhouse gases, but we have also significantly reduced the ability of earth to reduce at least one of the greenhouse gases.

  1. Burning of fossil fuels (coal, oil and natural gas) in industry, transport and the generation of electricity, which releases carbon dioxide (CO2).
  2. Cattle rearing, rice paddy farming, melting tundra and lakes, which all release methane (CH4).

A:

Historically, temperature change has always been the cause of CO2 concentrations to change. The levels of CO2 will rise behind temperature changes and fall in roughly the same 800 year lag. Every temperature increase has been started during times of lower then normal CO2 levels. Every temperature decline has also started during times of unusually high CO2 levels. This cycle is similar to the past six as far as we are able to determine.

We understand why this occurs. Man actually produces only a very small portion of all greenhouse gas. Far more is produced by nature (over 99%). Nature produces more vegetation and can not absorb CO2 as fast during warm periods. Increases in water vapor, the most common greenhouse gas, also occur due to temperature.

There are several things that increase green house gases.

Basically a green house gas is a gas that remains in our atmosphere

EG: CO2 from auto and industry

The stuff that makes the spray can spray

Many chemicals are much more harmful than CO2

The only real source of significant Green house gas emissions is Human activity.

So increase activity ( Increases in population, income per person, that kind of thing ) causes the release of this stuff.

  1. The burning of fossil fuels (coal, oil and natural gas). This releases the polluting greenhouse gas carbon dioxide (CO2).
  2. The deforestation of the world. This means that the trees can no longer remove CO2 from the atmosphere.

The two greenhouse gases that have increased in atmospheric concentration since the beginning of the Industrial Revolution are carbon dioxide and methane.

Scientists have demonstrated that the 35 per cent increase in carbon dioxide atmospheric concentration has been largely due to burning fossil fuels such as coal, oil and natural gas. It is also known that some increase is due to cement manufacture, and some is due to deforestation.

Methane levels increased quite rapidly at first, but the increase is levelling off, possibly because of better industrial practices. The main sources of methane are industrial processes, rotting waste and the digestive processes of ruminants such as sheep and cattle.

What greenhouse gas produced by humans activities has dramatically increased in earths atmosphere?

CO2; Carbon Dioxide

What is rapidly increased in the atmosphere by the burning of fossil fuels such as coal natural gas or oil?

Levels of the greenhouse gas, carbon dioxide.

What is the enhanced greenhouse effect and who caused it?

The enhanced, or accelerated greenhouse effect, is the increased heat in the atmosphere. It is caused largely by humans burning fossil fuels and cutting down forests. Both these activities Lead to more carbon dioxide (a greenhouse gas) in the atmosphere.

What does CH4 do in the atmosphere?

It is a powerful greenhouse gas.

Carbon dioxide is a greenhouse gas that causes what?

Greenhouse gases build up in the atmosphere and absorb heat so it can not escape making earth warmer. It is called Global Warming.

What gas in the atmosphere causes climate change?

The main gas is carbon dioxide. We release this whenever we burn coal, oil or natural gas (the fossil fuels). Trees remove carbon from the atmosphere, but deforestation means that much of this carbon dioxide remains in the atmosphere. This is causing global warming, which causes the climate to change.

What is the greenhouse gas in the photosynthesis reaction?

The greenhouse gas absorbed from the atmosphere by the photosynthesis reaction is carbon dioxide (CO2).

What is necessary for a planet to have the greenhouse effect?

Gas and/or Atmosphere

What does Methane (CH4) in the atmosphere do?

It is a powerful greenhouse gas.

The burning of fossil fuels from factories releases a gas that is part of the?

Burning fossil fuels (coal, oil and natural gas) in factories releases carbon dioxide, a gas that is part of the greenhouse gases in the atmosphere. These increased levels of greenhouse gases are causing global warming and climate change.

How do you know whether a gas is greenhouse gas i.e how a greenhouse gas is different from non-greenhouse gas?

A greenhouse gas is a gas (with at least three atoms) that traps heat inside the earth's atmosphere. Greenhouse gases include carbon dioxide and methane. It is important that some heat is trapped inside our atmosphere - otherwise the earth would freeze. But too much heat has a negative impact on the climate.

What gas in the Earth atmosphere is classified as Greenhouse Gas?

CO2, H2O, methane.
