∙ 12y agoIn a coral reef, corals are small polyps of marine organisms of the class Anthozoa. These organisms are closely related to sea anemones, and live in symbiosis with marine microorganisms called dinoflagellates that give corals colour and nutrients required for life. Corals also build solid structures made out of calcium carbonate, which are the white stone-like objects left when the polyps die.
