They´re legless amphibians, so they have a backbone and other characteristics that salamanders do too. But on the outside they look very much like earthworms, segmented and a bit slimy, due to their burrowing lifestyle. Their eyes are reduced and they have a pair of tentacles below them, used to smell with, that are actually moved with the eye muscles!
