Cost of lessons has more to do with what level you ride on. Of course the higher level of riding, the more expensive your lessons will be. So if you are just a beginner your lessons will be less expensive. If money is an obsticle, which for most of us it is, arrange lessons with a smaller local trainer and take 1 or 2 lessons a month instead of 1 or 2 a week like many people do. Ask the trainer if you can trade lessons for chores. This works very well for student and trainer. There are always ways around little problems like this. If you want to ride, you will find a way.
horse riding lessons at fearns equestrian centre are 15£ for 45 mins.
It depends where you ride. If you are having lessons at your house then yes you will probably need your own horse. But if you are going to a riding centre then usually you will not need a horse of your own.

No matter what your socioeconomic status, if you are going to ride and own a horse, in the beginning you should always have lessons, because you need to know the correct way to ride a horse so that you don't damage the horse by riding carelessly.
It seems that the riding lessons are not really cheap. 40€/hour. I used to pay 10€/hour back home.

When you take horse riding lessons they teach you everything you need to now to ride the horses but never teach you how to fall off. Instead the lessons are meant to keep you on the horse.
In horse riding lessons you can get taught with other people (I wouldn't recommend more than 6). You can however receive private or one-to-one where you get taught on your own. I prefer being taught on my own, however it is ALOT more expensive.
