If a team leader fails to listen attentively to team members, several consequences may arise. Firstly, it can lead to misunderstandings and miscommunication, hindering productivity and collaboration within the team. Additionally, team morale may suffer as members feel undervalued and ignored, resulting in decreased motivation and engagement. Furthermore, important insights and ideas from team members may be overlooked, leading to suboptimal decision-making and missed opportunities for innovation. Ultimately, the lack of attentive listening can erode trust and respect between the leader and team members, negatively impacting overall team performance and cohesion.

If the leader does not listen he will not know the needs of the members and he will not know what progress they have made towards the goal. Team members will be able to tell that he has not taken much interest in them. This will cause team members to lose motivation because they feel that the leader does not care. The whole team will suffer and the goal may not be reached. Even if the goal is reached, the product of the team will be of worse quality than if the team leader had listened to his members.
