there are many constituents of petroleum some of them are:-
diesel, petrol, wax and gas
Liquid Petroleum Gas (LPG) is prepared by refining petroleum or 'wet' natural gas.
LPG - liquefied petroleum gas is primarily propane or butane or a mixture of the two.
The main constituents of LPG (liquefied petroleum gas) are propane and butane. Propane is the primary component, constituting around 30-50% of LPG, while butane makes up the remaining portion. These gases are derived from natural gas processing and crude oil refining.
Petroleum, that is unrefined crude oil is a heterogeneous mixture. These hydrocarbon components are separated and refined in fractional distillation columns. Refined constituents include diesel, fuel oil, and kerosene for example.
Crude oil distillation is followed by the process of petroleum refining. There are many branches leading off into producing diesel, petrol, and the many products that result from the refining process.
Petroleum consists of various gasses (oxygen, carbon gasses), metals (Nickel, Iron, Vanadium, Copper), and complex hydrocarbons (Alkanes, Cyclo-Alkanes, and Arenes). Petroleum is used for several things; fuel, plastics, waxes, Asphalt, lubricant and pesticides to name a few.
Petroleum is a mixture of various useful constituents and cannot be used directly,so to use it we have to seperate petroleum by a method called fractional distillation of petroleum.

It is not recommended to use plastic containers to store essential oils because the plastic will absorb the oils. Most plastics are made of some petroleum constituents and will alter the oils also.
