Arms laws vary by jurisdiction. They are governed both Federally (trade in arms & right to bear arms) and on a State level. Although there is no Federal right to bear arms for individuals, 44 states have granted that right to their citizens. California, Iowa, Maryland, Minnesota, New Jersey and New York are currently the only states where there is not an individual right to bear arms.

Well, there are actually NUMEROUS gun control laws in the US- at Federal, State, and local level. The number is in the THOUSANDS of laws. When people have the right to bear arms, they also have the included implied right to USE arms for defense of themselves from lawless people. There is also statistical information that shows that crime is decreased in areas where people have the ability to defend themselves.
