As with all vocational roles stone mason carries a number of risks as part of doing the job.

some but not all are;

-eye damage from stone chips chiseled from them (if no eye protection worn)

-damage to hands from using the cold steel chisels and hammers when striking the chisel especially if you miss the chisel head.

-lifting damage to spines and other skeletal joints

-hand damage from dropping stone on hands or slipping when attempting a lift

-dust

-skin infections from dust and mortar use

-hearing damage from noise of stone cutting

-skin weathering from working in a vast range of weather conditions

-colds and flu from working in cold wet conditions when out side work is required

-dangers from working at heights i.e. falling etc

-danger from materials/tools dropped on you from other trades working above
