Insofar as the standard is that which God wills the Catholic faith to be, the Catholic faithitself, which comes to us from the Apostles, is without deficiencies. I believe there have always been plenty of deficiencies among the people who are adherents of the Catholic Church. Being a Catholic is no guarantee against being a sinner and deficient in faith, charity, and justice, to name a few. When Catholics sin in these ways, they not only offend God and injure themselves, they also harm the Church by giving scandal and damaging the reputation of the holy faith.
