1.xml is case sensetive but html is case insensetive.
2.xml preserve white space but html does not .
3.xml is about describing information but html is about displaying information.
4.xml is about carring information hence dynamic but html is about displaying data hence static.
XML is designed for introduce an easy-to-learn way to use SGMLs structure-defining power and to combine it with HTMLs popular features to describe easily text and graphics in the internet.
- HTML is a subset of SGML
- XML is a highly functional subset of SGML.
- XHTML extends and subsets HTML
The primary difference between HTML and XHTML is that XHTML follows the rules laid out by the Extensible Markup Language (XML.)
In XML, all elements have to close. Either the initial tag has a paired tag, or they follow a pattern called an "empty tag."
The HTML image element looks like this:
<img src="image.png" alt="Blah blah blah">
But this tag doesn't close, and so it's invalid in XML. Instead, the XHTML version looks like this.
<img src="image.png" alt="Blah blah blah" />
See the "/"?
XML also requires that all attribute values be quoted (where in the older HTMLs <font color=#334433></font> was valid, it isn't in XHTML.) Similarly, all attributes and tags have to be written in lowercase. (Old HTML was often done in all caps.)
XHTML is embraced by developers, but designers seemed to feel that it was more complicated for absolutely no reason.
Either way, the latest HTML incarnation, HTML 5, isn't XML based.
Both HTML and XML have their origins in an earlier markup language called SGML. Because of this, much of their appearance is similar. For instance, both are made up of tags, and those tags are defined in both using a <tag> format.
But HTML isn't as strictly structured as XML. All XML elements, for instance, must close. That means that an HTML5 image element that looks like this:
wouldn't be valid in XML.
There was a version of HTML that was XML compliant. In that version, tags like the image tag followed the "empty tag" pattern established in XML. This version, called XHTML was huge, and still runs a good portion of the internet, but is being supplanted by the non-compliant HTML5.
The major difference in XML and HTML is their purpose. HTML is a standardized set of tags used to create web pages, and deliver a similar experience with a standard set of elements no matter what page you're on, and no matter what browser you're using.
XML, on the other hand, is a "meta-language." It's intended to aid programmers in developing other languages. There is no "standard set" of XML elements. Instead, you can use XML to make a standard set of elements for your own use.
Both languages are created using tags but with XML you pretty much create your own and is only a form of data storage.
XML has no predefined elements and allows the creation of own markup
elements to meet the information needs.
XML is used to make a markup language. HTML is a markup language used to make webpages.
XML is also be be used as database along with markup. HTML is only defined for web designing.
There was no XML in HTML 4, and you can only add XML to HTML 5 if you reset the content MIME type. XML hasn't changed. But XML is a language used to define other languages. XML was used to define the standards for XHTML 1.0, the successor to HTML 4. The rules of XML apply in XHTML, because the language is based off of XML. These rules are not, in any way, part of HTML 4. HTML 5 is not, by default, an XML based language. But there is a version that allows one to use the XML (or XHTML) style serialization. If you do this, however, you have to deliver the document using an XML MIME type, like application/html+xml. (Normally, this involves messing with the server a bit.) See the related link for HTML 5 Doctor's take on XML serialization in HTML 5, as well as some other, useful links.
an xml value can be anything, its up to as xml is not a semantic language like html.
As a programmer, processing pure XML is easier that HTML. This is because XML follows a very strict set of standards. HTML (such as HTML 4 or 5) does not. For instance, all XML tags close, either by a closing pair, or a "self-closing" tag. e.g.: <tag></tag> Or <tag /> Whereas HTML tags such as line-break and image don't follow the same pattern. <img> <br> By adhere to stricter rules, XML is easier for me to parse.
XML is more strict. For HTML, doing <b><i></b></i> wouldn't matter. That would be invalid XML. Also, XML has no set tags. It's for storing and retrieving set data, that can be used with JavaScript code.
XML has no rules like html in regards to tags and naming tags, you write your own xml tags.
XML is different from HTML in many ways. XML can be used mainly for mobile designing while HTML for web designing.
Some different technologies that are built on top of HTML are DHTML - Dynamic HTML, XHTML - Extended HTML, XML - Extended Markup Language etc.
You mean the file extension, right? HTML: .html or .htm XML: .xml
xml can be written straight into html code and vice versa using the correct syntax, ie your html in here and your xml in here
In structure <?php ?> <html> </html> in application - one is static and another is dynamic. this much ......

XML probably will not replace HTML. XML is a language to define categories of data. HTML is a language to define format.
basikly xhtml is a mics of html and xml. the difference in html and xhtml is that xhtml is a more strict on the syntax and defined as a xml document. xml is a self defined language... in short it is a strikter html in xml format...
HTML and XML are scripting languages. These languages help in designing for mobiles and web.
HTML and XML both are markup languages. These languages use tags for functionality.
