In the US OSHA standards are issued sand enforced by the Occupational Safety and Health Administration, an arm of the Federal Department of Labor, or by equivalent agencies established by about half of the 50 States.

In Trinidad and Tobago OSHA Codes of Practice are issued by the Occupational Safety and Health Agency, an arm of the Ministry of Labour. Inspectors designated by the Authority are empowered to inspect workplaces, collect samples and begin the process of determining whether a health or safety requirement has been breached.
