Adi Granth (Adhi Granth) is the beginning of what eventually became known and is till now known as Sri Guru Granth Sahib.

Mool mantra of Sikhisim contains the words Aad Sach, Jugaad Sach, meaning Eternal.

Foreseeing the age of conflict, confusion and scarcity of True Gurus, Sri Guru Gobind Singh Ji Sahib, the 10th Guru, proclaimed "Sabh Sikhan ko hukam hai, Guru maniyo Granth".

Thus, providing a sustainable source and beacon of light/guide to all followers of Sikhisim, The Guru Granth Sahib, which is a compilation of the works of all the Gurus.

Both of these texts were compiled and written in different regions and time periods, therefore there will be significant differences. But more importantly, the idea of God and the responsibility of His followers as well as His relationship to them is different across every religious group, and this is reflected in their sacred texts. For instance, The Bible explains that all men have sinned and separated themselves from God and destined themselves to spend eternity away from His presence (i.e. Hell). However because of His great love for mankind, He sent His only Son to bare our burden and pay the price of our sins (i.e. died on our behalf). Thus, whoever believes on the sacrifice that the Son of God made on their behalf will have their relationship with God restored (as if they had never sinned) and spend eternity with Him (i.e. Heaven).

This is clarified in one of the Bible's most famous verses, John 3:16:

"For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life."

This concept of sin and redemption while not exclusive to the Bible, is characterized, understood, and explained very differently in the texts of other religions.

The Guru Granth Sahib is the religious text of the Sikh faith while the Holy Bible is the religious text of the Christian faith. I would imagine that between the two there are vast and significant differences.

What is the sikhist version of the Bible?

The Guru Granth Sahib is a book similar to our bible but there are several significant differences. Firstly our bible is the documentation of God and of Jesus and of creation and Jesus's and his disciples lives. The Guru Granth Sahib is considered to host God and the Gurus. The Guru Granth Sahib is seen as a living Guru and is treated with much reverence, Christians would happily find a copy of the bible in the library or for sale on the Internet. To Sikh persons this would be highly offensive. The Guru Granth Sahib is treated as a living Guru. It has its own bedroom/rest room within the Gurdwara (Sikh temple) and is placed there every evening and brought out every morning. It is attended when it is in the temple and is fanned and protected from the heat as you would a person.
