Logging can lead to deforestation.. If the logging is planned and controlled, then it is beneficial to the trees by retarding fires and encouraging new healthy tree growth. But most likely than not there are unscrupulous people/companies that strip large acreage of land which causes deforestation.
An advantage to logging is that wood can be utilized for many different purposes including furniture and paper products. A disadvantage is that cutting down trees takes habitats away from animals.
Strip logging involves the clear-cutting of a relatively thin strip of forest that parallels a river (goes along the river) along a slope. A gallery forest (bordering the river) is left intact, but a strip is cut immediately upslope and the desirable timber is removed by a road that is also designed to parallel the river. Following this, another strip is cut several years later immediately upslope to the first strip and the road. Nutrients eroded (broken down) from the newly cut strip wash down slope and aid in spreading the recovery of the first strip (Kricher, 1997, p. 346). The process allows the strip to regenerate (regrow) while selecting another strip upslope. It also prevents erosion (the wearing down of nutrients from the soil) because the strip is buffered by a row of trees remaining and a supply of nutrients from the newly cut strip. Smart, huh?Source(s):
The advantages are that many workers know how to use it and it is cheap. Disadvantages are that it is really difficult to fix up any mistakes.
Some disadvantages of strip foundations include limited load-bearing capacity, susceptibility to differential settlement (which can lead to structural issues), and the potential for erosion or instability of the ground beneath the foundation. Additionally, strip foundations may not be suitable for all soil types and may require deeper excavation in certain cases.
Legality- user notification that actions are being logged, conforming to legislative requirements (retention of data for what period of time). Security - What was done by whom, logging of unneccessary data e.g. user accessed this with these credentials. Performance - Logging too much can use lots of storage.

The benefit to circular logging is that your disk drives don't fill with hundreds or thousands of log files between backups. The disadvantage is that you cannot restore a database and roll it forward to the time of a failure when circular logging is enabled; you need a complete set of logs to do that, and circular logs simply reuse the same files over an over
