What are the disadvantages with the evolution of science and technology?

As technology and science become more and more evolved, there are few disadvantages. Technology will allow for cleaner policies that halt and take care of toxic byproducts, can contain renegade science experiments, allow humans to travel to other planets, and perhaps even increase their life span. The only possible disadvantages are that certain breakthroughs will be fought over so a monopoly could form over them, such as renewable energy, no corporation will allow for free energy; General Electric is worth 200 billion dollars. And they aren't even the only energy corporation. Also, our own curiosity may cause an unforeseen problem that we have no strategy to implement against, such as a leak of an unknown substance, or creation of a new virus.
Also, there must always be a balance. If we continue to develop stronger and stronger vaccines, disease will only evolve too, Earth leaves nothing behind. So as technology and science evolves, we ultimately evolve our own world, and there are already some nasty things on it at this level of technological and scientific advancement. Don't forget about time travel either, which could easily send us all the way back to Ice Age times if anything is wrong!
