What are the disadvatages of using functions in computer programming?

As opposed to what, exactly? Having all your code in one gigantic main() function? That is going to be unmanageable for any non-trivial program.
I guess you might lose a bit of speed pushing and popping from the stack, but much of that can be optimized by the compiler.
