Access routes were cut off (road as well as Rail) many insurance rose and house prices decreased. Expensive restoration work was required for historic buildings and new flood defences were planned for the future.

The York flood of 2000 was caused by too much rain at one time. The water reached the first floor of the houses! But I don't know how much damage it caused, how many people died, how many houses were destroyed or how long it took to clean up so if you know any of the answers PLEASE comment below to tell me ;)
