The SKS is a semi-automatic rifle. Don't cut the barrel shorter than 16" (or alter the rifle so that its OVERALL length, measured from the muzzle crown to the end of the stock, makes it shorter than 26 inches) unless you have prior approval to make a short barreled rifle and have paid for and received the $200 NFA tax stamp.
The SKS is an imported firearm. Don't make it less sporting and more combat tactical by adding a bunch of paramilitary accessories unless you replace a bunch of the foreign-made parts with USA-made parts. See federal law 18 USC Section "922r" for details on ths.
Those are the only two Federal Laws I can think of that an SKS owner might get in trouble over.

As of my last update, the SKS rifle is legal to own in Georgia, provided it complies with federal and state regulations. There are no specific restrictions on the SKS itself, but owners must adhere to general firearm laws, including background checks and age requirements. Always check for the most current laws and regulations, as they can change.
Federal law is 18 to purchase a rifle. Ask your local police if Atlanta has a prohibition on the SKS.
The state laws are overruled by the federal laws.
We can't answer that. It oes not violate US Federal law, but SOME states have their own laws, and you did not share what state you are in. A good start would be to check with the State Police or a gun dealer in your state.
SKS Microfinance was created in 1998.

The D and M models accept AK47 magazines whereas the standard sks has an integral magazine.
Federal Laws and the federal constitution super cedes the states.
The only SKS carbines currently which require registration are the Chinese-made SKS-M and SKS-D models. Those could not be imported into the state after 1989, and had to be registered by 2000.
Federal bank laws are specific laws at the federal level that banks must follow. They are controlled or regulated by several federal departments, including the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation.
The legislative branch of government makes the federal laws and state laws.
