According to the U.S. Department of Transportation (49 CFR Subtitle A, Part 71: Standard Time Zone Boundries), the nine times zones of the U.S. are...

  • Atlantic Zone (AST, UTC-4)
  • Eastern Zone (EST/EDT; UTC-5/UTC-4)
  • Central Zone (CST/CDT; UTC-6/UTC-5)
  • Mountain Zone (MST/MDT; UTC-7/UTC-6)
  • Pacific Zone (PST/PDT; UTC-8/UTC-7)
  • Alaska Zone (AKST/AKDT; UTC-9/UTC-8)
  • Hawaii-Aleutian Zone (HAST/HADT; UTC-10/UTC-9)
  • Samoa Zone (SST; UTC-11)
  • Chamorro Zone (ChST; UTC+10)

Some sources also show time zone information for the U.S. possessions of Wake Island (UTC+12) and Baker and Howland Islands (UTC-12), but these are not mentioned in the 2010 revision of the official document.
