I like the big bore Selmers from the days before the polycylindricals. Examples are the Series 9 (not 9*) or the earlier Centered Tone model.
Yes, both in modern and traditional jazz.
jazz,jazz, jazz, and jazz
True
It depends: there have been many famous clarinet jazz players, but as a whole, clarinets are not usually in jazz bands
Clarinets have a long tradition in jazz -- check out Benny Goodman. I would suggest that a few clarinet players who are interested in Jazz Band get together, learn a couple of pieces, and ask the band teacher to listen.
True
Yes. It could play jazz, but it usually plays orchestra, slow pretty songs, or upbeat music. Also the famous clarinet player, Woody Allen has played jazz.
As far as I know, I haven't seen a single clarinet in a jazz band (sure in a marching band, but not in jazz). My friends who play clarinet are also in the jazz band, but intead of playing their clarinets, their switch/use saxophones instead. So, no, I don't think clarinet is a jazz instrument.
Clarinets are used in any and every musical ensemble. Symphonic bands, symphonic orchestras, jazz, marching bands... Some places even have clarinet choirs devoted entirely to the various clarinets.
There are no "jazz instruments." You can find jazz pieces written for almost any instrument, including trumpets, saxophones, trombones, flutes, clarinets, piano, string bass, vocal parts, etc.
Sometimes a school concert or a jazz concert. . . rather dont really know sorry lol
Fusion jazz introduced more electric instruments into jazz such as the synthesizer and electric keyboard used by Herbie Hancock and Chick Corea. It also used a heavier sounding electric bass guitar. It modernized jazz and made it more relate-able to rock and disco which were popular at the time.
