I would say first have someone agile, like metaknight or pit. use that character to get through donkey kongs stage to the purple door. after the agile one, use a lot of powerhouses. make sure that up+b attack can do damage. if you lose a life before fighting tabuu, go back and get all the characters back. here is an example team: metaknight, ike, bowser, donkey kong, falco. using that team should increase your chance of beating Tabuu.

You should first make sure that the stage is easy, and pick the best characters that can fight but can also jump back faster. Tabuu is known for his sonic wings move (pulsing harmful red sound waves from his wings) so you should avoid those otherwise they can kill you easier. He also has a move where he locks onto you and throws you onto the ground if you get into the golden brackets. If he starts attacking from the ground use a character that will fly or jump for a long period of time until Tabuu stops. Attack him as long as he floats there (doing nothing). If you're lucky, a trophy stand will show up and you can catch him as a trophy when he is weak enough.
