Go to the original machine and locate the data files in question. Back them up to a flashdrive or some such medium, and insert that into the new machine.Place the files in the exact folder you got them from on the old one. If you get "do you want to overwrite?" errors, that means the files were already there.
avi files are actually already video files.
You should always back up your computer files just in case your computer decides to go kaput. When you back up your files on another drive, you can always have access to them.

You have to use windows restore cd, to repair such files.
Transfer the files to your PC and then transfer them back to where they were before.
