There are many positions in law enforcement. Alot of it depends though on the size of department or organization that you work for. If you work for a small city or town, you may be limited to patrol officer. Bigger cities have detective positions, narcotics divisions, computer crime divisions, gang divisions, the biggest cities have helicopter divsions, theres alot more to law enforcement than what you see on COPS. I myself have worked as a patrol officer, then a detective, then I moved to narcotics and worked with a multi-jurisdictional Drug TaskForce. It all depends on what city or county you work for. Also, government level law enforcement, such as U.S. Marshall service, F.B.I. Theres alot you can get into in Law Enforcement.
