Some indirect warning signs of suicide may include withdrawal from social activities or relationships, loss of interest in previously enjoyed activities, extreme mood swings or emotional instability, increased use of drugs or alcohol, giving away personal belongings, or making final arrangements (e.g., writing a will, saying goodbye to loved ones). Keep in mind that these signs may vary from person to person, and it is important to take any indication of suicidal thoughts or behaviors seriously and seek help from a mental health professional or a helpline.

Suicide tends not to come out of nowhere. There are warning signs in a person who is headed in that direction. The first warning sign is depression- the person stops caring about how they look, they sleep a lot more, they no longer have any interest in activities they used to enjoy, etc. Another sign is if they start talking about others who have committed suicide. A very alarming sign is when they start to say it'll all be over soon. Or it appears they have magically come out of their depressing and keep saying it's all going to be OK. That could mean that they settled on a plan to end their lives, giving them a sense of peace and making it appear they have gotten over it. It's very important if you notice the warning signs of depression in someone you care about that you get them help. Approach them directly and tell them you are worried about them. Encourage and help them to get professional help.
Some warning signs of suicide may include talking about wanting to die or kill oneself, expressing feelings of hopelessness or being a burden, withdrawing from social activities, increased use of alcohol or drugs, giving away belongings or making arrangements, and sudden mood changes or extreme mood swings. It is important to take any signs of suicide seriously and seek help immediately.
