The active ingredient is Sodium percarbonate. Sodium percarbonate breaks down to Hydrogen Peroxide (an oxidizer) and Sodium carbonate, which acts as a laundry detergent booster, by acting as a water softener. Also there is some Sodium Silicate in there. This ingredient bonds to heavy molecules and pulls them out of the wash water.
It is fairly safe for the environment in moderate amounts. The carbonate is slightly caustic and hydrogen breaks down naturally.
The main ingredients are: sodium percarbonate and soda ash.
The following was excerpted from one of Oxyclean's websites: www.ascleanedontv.com/oxyclean.html "Feel great about doing your part to save our environment!Oxyclean is made from natural ingredients and contains no toxic chemicals, cleaning solvents, or harmful abrasives. It's environmentally friendly, completely biodegradable and has NO odor!"
There are few ingredients in OxyClean. As the name would suggest , there is hydrogen peroxide, the second main ingredient is sodium percarbonate.
Billy Mays from the commercials for Oxyclean died in June 2009.
