What are the long term pros and cons of living in either Atlanta or Fort Lauderdale?

The advantage of living in the Atlanta Metro area is affordability for housing (in comparison to most major cities). The weather. The summers can be very hot and humid but by late summer and fall the weather is great! Lots to see and do from night life to amusement parks, zoo, aquarium, major sports (professional and college), parks, etc.
THE CONS: Traffic (including very poor and aggressive driving), poorly designed roads, very high crime in parts of the city. VERY poor performing public schools including a major cheating scandal (by teachers and administrators), Suburbs to the north are predominantly white, middle and upper class while the inner city is predominantly African American. Old racial tensions still exist (not always noticeable.
Winters are surprisingly cold!
