If you're talking about cities, I'd go with Atlanta and Savannah, GA, Charleston, SC, Miami and Tampa, FL. Key West, FL is known for Hemingway's tenure there, Charleston for Fort Sumner, where the Civil War began and several marvelous antebellum homes. Juliet Gordon Low started the Girl Scouts in Savannah, and later, Midnight in the Garden of Good and Evil triggered much tours and notoriety. That's a start!
