There are several themes in Amos:
Everyone answers to God -- Amos pronounced judgement on Israel and Judah and all the surrounding nations. God is in control of all nations.
Complacency -- With comfort and luxury comes self sufficiency and a false sense of security. Remember all things come from God everything is meaningless without Him.
Oppressing the poor -- The wealthy and powerful had become prosperous and greedy and unfair. God was weary of greed and would not tolerate injustice.
Superficial religion -- Although people had abandoned real faith in God they still pretended to be religious. God wants simple trust in Him not showy external actions.
Amos' prophecy was a judgement message to a few nations, but primarily against the 10 tribe kingdom of Israel, warning of God's judgement against them for their false worship, immorality, rejecting the law of God, oppressing the poor, and dishonoring God's prophets(Amos 1:1-6:14). God told them to listen and obey, or face destruction(Amos 5:14+15). Amos then prophesied the eventual reuniting of the remnants of Israel and Judah, and rebuilding of their homeland, which was fulfilled in 537 BCE.(Amos 9:14 / Ezra 3:1).
Israel faces certain destruction, which Amos says is not only because of overconfidence in its ability to withstand the powerful Assyrian armies, but also because of its sins. Amos, a mere shepherd, comes to preach repentance and warn against danger from Assyria, but it must be that no one listened to him, because Israel was soon defeated by the Assyrian Empire.
In chapter 5, Amos explains this defeat as the will of God, because he tired of the Israelites' lack of repentance, so he will destroy Israel, leaving its temples in ruins. Amos chapter 9 ends with a prophecy that unfortunately never came true, because the captive Israelites became absorbed into their host cultures and never returned to rebuild and inhabit their ruined cities:Amos 9:14-15: “And I will bring again the captivity of my people of Israel, and they shall build the waste cities, and inhabit them; and they shall plant vineyards, and drink the wine thereof; they shall also make gardens, and eat the fruit of them. And I will plant them upon their land, and they shall no more be pulled up out of their land which I have given them, saith the LORD thy God."
It points out the ill treatment by God's people toward others.
Some of the books that are prophetic, are Jeremiah , Daniel, Isiah, Micah, Amos , Haggai. are some of the main prophets.

The Book of Amos is perhaps the best known of the 'Minor Prophets.' The primary theme of the book is 'justice. God created we humans to enjoy good relations with one another, thereby having good relations with God who is the loving Creator of all mankind. Injustice on the other hand, only leads to alienation from each other and God Himself. This book, like most prophetic writings, has an immediate message for Israel in the time of King Jeroboam's pagan temple, before the soon coming Assyrian invasion and captivity. But it is also an end-time prophecy for us just ahead as many read Amos 9:11-15 to say.Perhaps the most important thing to glean from this book is :Amos 3:7New International Version (NIV) 7 Surely the Sovereign Lord does nothingwithout revealing his planto his servants the prophets. All of we humans are without excuse as to the events that lie ahead for us all.
It challenged the people because they had forgotten about the one true God.
he was warning the people of israel of their corupt religion = = According to the book of Amos 2:6-16(NKJV), his message from God was their sins against God. Their ruthless oppression of the poor, theirunbridled profanation of their religion, and the contrasted position of the Isrealites. Please read discussion also.
No I don't think so. God's covenant was with the nation of Israel. Amos' message to the kingdoms of Israel and Judah was they were not keeping their part of God's covenant with them.
The time in minutes varies as a multiple of how many people have sent him an unanswered IM.
Hosea, Joel, Amos, right through to Malachi are all classed as minor prophets, even though their message from the Lord was vitally important (although often unheeded) and still in some cases relevant today.
This is a list of the Old Testament prophetic books.Isaiah, Jeremiah, Lamentations, Ezekiel, Daniel, Hosea, Joel, Amos, Obadiah, Jonah, Micah, Nahum, Habakkuk, Zephaniah, Hagaii, Zachariah, MalachiAnswer:According to Jesus Christ, the entire Old Testament is made up of "prophetic" books:"...These are the Words which I spake unto you, while I was yet with you, that all things must be fulfilled, which were written in the law of Moses, and in the prophets, and in the psalms, concerning Me." (Luke 24:44)
In the book Amos Fortune, free man, Amos was encouraged by some Bible verses. On page 41, it says: "Unto him that loved us, and washed us from our sins in his own blood, and hath made us Kings and priests unto God..." There are more, but that was an important one to Amos.
