The drain plug is magnetized. The metal filings are normal. As the bands wear they will leave these metal filings. It does not indicate the transmission is bad, unless there is an excessive amount. This is why you need to change the fluid and fliter every 36,000 miles. To remove these filings from the transmission.
I hope you mean the primary drain plug. Because I have never got metal out on my transmission drain plug. The primary drain plug is on the clutch side. The transmission is on the other side. The primary will have metal on it. If the transmission plug has metal on it check your clutch to made sure it is working right. The clutch may need to be adjusted
