USC does not have a "required" SAT score. It looks at a student holistically, considering his or her talents, educational opportunities, leadership abilities, community service, and many other factors. However, USC is one of the top colleges in the US and it is not easy to get admitted there. According to USC's website, the middle 50% of its 2009 freshman class had an SAT score range of 1930 to 2150.
USC, like almost all schools are not seeking a a minimum SAT score in the students they accept, but rather a well rounded individual who is going to bring something to the campus, as well as get the most from their education there. Therefore a student who may do very well on the SAT's but is not well rounded (Clubs, volunteer, etc) would not be as favored as a student with a lower SAT but a more diverse background.
