This is a tricky one to answer because there are two right answers. There are two different series called Doctor Who. The one than ran from 1963 - 1989 and a second series that is considered a continuation from 2005 to present. The former is referred to as Classic Doctor Who and the current program is referred to as simply Doctor Who or the Doctor Who reboot to keep the two series straight. Classic Doctor Who's Season One was a whopping 42 episodes long. Each episode was 25 minutes in length. The current Doctor Who Season One was 13 episodes long with each episode approximately 45 minutes in length.
Actually, there are going to be 14 total episodes this series. The first part (of 5 episodes) has just concluded, the Christmas episode will introduce the Doctor's new companion, and the rest of the season will air in 2013 sometime (no set air date yet).
20, for the New Series (up to Series 4), & another 20 for the Classic Series (in a random order).
There are 26 seasons of "classic" Doctor Who from 1963-1989 with 695 episodes including the 20th anniversary special. Note the original Doctor series aired a single story in 6 or 4 episodes each in 25 minute segments. The new series typically has 50-minute length episodes.

Doctor Who is unique in that all of its missing episodes survive in audio form, recorded off-air by fans at home. Stills or short video clips have been found for several missing episodes. All 1970s episodes also exist visually in some form, which is not the case for several other series. There are many doctor who fans out there including me!
There are 13 episodes in all six of the series.
There are thirteen episodes.

There has only been one 'canon' Doctor Who movie, and it aired in 1996, between 'Survival' at the end of classic series 26, and 'Rose' at the beginning of the rebooted Series 1. A full episode list can be found on Wikipedia. The two movies starring Peter Cushing are not canon and do not fall between any episodes.
Netflix carries all the episodes that have been released on DVD. You can probably still find the occasional movie rental shop that also carries them.
Thirteen, same as the previous four series.
