Repeaters are usually used in coaxial based ethernet networks. For this purpose they are used to extend the length of a network segment. For example, in a 10base2 ethernet network the maximum length of a segment is 180 meters. A repeater could join two segments together to increase the length of the network and the number of clients in the network. In today's modern networks you will see neither coaxial networks nor repeaters in a LAN. Repeaters are used for DSL transmissions, but not for LANS.

Depends on what your doing, most common use today is for POE (power over ethernet)
Today, Ethernet LAN has one competing LAN technology: WLANs.
True - Ethernet is the predominant protocol found in LANs today.
Many of today's business transactions take place online. Unfortunately, some laptops do not come equipped with ethernet ports, while other computers lack the necessary hardware to connect to wireless networks. USB network adapters can ensure reliable network access, anywhere in the world. A USB network adapter is a device that allows a computer to use its USB port to connect to another network. These versatile tools come in several varieties, depending on what type of network needs to be joined. Use a USB adapter to augment a computer by adding an ethernet port, or connecting to a wireless network, such as Wi-Fi or 3G.
Here’s a concise overview of the differences between Ethernet, Fast Ethernet, and Gigabit Ethernet: 1. **Speed** **Ethernet**: 10 Mbps **Fast Ethernet**: 100 Mbps **Gigabit Ethernet**: 1 Gbps (1000 Mbps) 2. **Standards** **Ethernet**: IEEE 802.3 (e.g., 10BASE-T) **Fast Ethernet**: IEEE 802.3u (e.g., 100BASE-TX) **Gigabit Ethernet**: IEEE 802.3z (fiber) and 802.3ab (copper, e.g., 1000BASE-T) 3. **Transmission Medium** **Ethernet**: Twisted pair or coaxial cables. **Fast Ethernet**: Twisted pair (Cat 5) and fiber optics. **Gigabit Ethernet**: Twisted pair (Cat 5e or better) and fiber optics. read more...tinyurl. com/578xthwt
Social media refers to any network that allows you to socialize. Facebook is the most popular and largest social media/network on the internet because it provides a diverse range of social networking options, including chat rooms. Twitter and Instagram are two of the most popular social media platforms.
Even a slow Ethernet network would be faster than ADSL, since 10baseT LAN networks run at 10 Mbps. An ADSL connection typically tops out at around 8 Mbps. However, if you are talking about throughput, then they might be very close, since Ethernet has problems with packet collision. Then again, most Ethernet networks today for LANs run at 100 Mbps, which would place it far faster than ADSL based on speed measurements. However, ADSL does not use the same transmission method as Ethernet, but Ethernet will still be faster than ADSL (especially if you consider the Gigabit speeds).
