Since 1911, the US House of Representatives has been fixed at 435 members, except for a brief period from 1959 to 1963 when it had 437 members, between the time that Alaska and Hawaii became states and the reapportionment following the 1960 census. The number of seats in the House of Representatives is not set by the Constitution. It is set by a law passed by Congress.
The number of seats in the U. S. House of Representatives has been 435 since March 4, 1913, except for January 3, 1959 (Alaska statehood) to January 3, 1963 (1st Congress after 1960 census reallocation).
The number of electoral votes for each state is equal to the sum of its number of Senators and its number of Representatives in the U.S. House of Representatives. Based on the 2010 Census, there are 4 members of the U.S. House of Representatives from Arkansas. Therefore, Arkansas has 6 electoral votes. Arkansas has had 6 electoral votes since the 1964 presidential election. Based on the 1960 Census, the number of representatives in the U.S. House of Representatives from Arkansas reduced from 6 to 4 thereby reducing Arkansas' electoral votes from 8 to 6.
Since 1960, they have only been known as the Dallas Cowboys.
Hawaii had 3 electoral votes in the 1960 US presidential election. Since 1964, it has had 4 electoral votes, and it will continue to do so until at least the 2020 presidential election, with possible adjustment after the 2020 census.
three....2 senate and 1 house of representatives. (coincidently only 1 house of representatives.) depends on what the amount of house of representatives there are...if n.y had 9(for example) and 2 senates(obviously) then there would be 11 electoral votes for ny...A total of three.
There are 100 US Senators and there are 435 seats in the House of Representatives. This is true, but there is a serious present challenge to the number of representatives in the House of Representatives. The argument is that some states have one representative representing 200,000 or so, while other states have one representative representing over 2,000,000, and that this is contrary to the legal principle of Baker v. Carr announced by the Supreme Court back in the 1960's. The Supreme Court just may make a ruling this term on this issue and that could possibly affect the number of representatives or at least the way they are distributed. It does present an interesting legal challenge.
