Turkey has disputes with an already EU member, Cyprus. They are the only sovereign nation to recognize Northern Cyprus as an independent nation from Cyprus. They are also not a very democratic nation, as it is illegal to insult their nation and the military is heavily involved in government. Only 3% of Turkey is even in Europe, so its almost like adding an Asian country to the European Union, and there are strict geographical laws for allowing a member to join the EU, which is why Morocco got rejected. If Turkey were to join, they would be the most populous country in the EU, after Germany, but would end up surpassing Germany in only a matter of years; this means they would have the most representation in the European Union. The major disagreers of Turkey's admission are France and Germany.

What if Charlemagne had kept is empire united?

It would have been it's negative and positive aspects. among the positive aspects, eurpeans would never have the subconscient desire to hurt their neighbours across the border. hundreds of wars in europe would probably never happened and millions of people wouldn't die in them. europe could have gone one of two ways - assimilation of ethnic groups into one larger (like the process in historic china) or a comunity of several ethnic nationalities (like switzerland or Áustria-hungary for example) among the negative aspects we can count the effect on the people who love the divisionismo brought by the nation state. without nation states, many people would loose their will to be active in life..

Who would win in a war US or Europe?

Such a scenario is totally unlikely and ridiculous, and it depends on how you define Europe. If you by Europe mean the European Union, there would just be mass destruction and death bodies everywhere, meaning none would win. If you by Europe mean the continent inclluding Russia, Turkey, etc., then Europe would win with overwhelming military power.
