My wife, 2 kids and I visited Disneyland Paris in 2010. My kids were ~2 and 5 years old then. It's the only Disney they've known, so kids can't compare.
We had a great time, personally speaking. Very clean, little to no lines, prices were fair, and perhaps less "commercialized" then American counterparts. Less pressure.
If you're asking for only the negative effects of it, I'd say the distance for North Americans to visit. There are not nearly as many "package deals" available, compared to the parks of Florida and California.
I could add the size of the Paris park is smaller, but when visiting for just a day or two, the size is more than enough.
