The cytoskeleton is in itself an organelle, and it is made up of proteins. Only animal cells have cytoskeletons b/c plant cells have a cell wall instead.

The Cytoskeleton is composed of three kinds of fiber:

1. Microfilaments-support the cell's shape and are involved in motility.

2. Intermediate filaments-reinforce cell shape and anchor organelles.

3. Microtubules-shape the cell and act as tracks for motor proteins.
