If it is an older vehicle without all the electronics, it would be a fairly simple affair (aside from all the labor of actually doing it). Would just need to take out the manual trans, clutch, and flywheel and put in an automatic that fits that vehicle and perhaps get a longer or shorter driveshaft (possibly from the donor vehicle which should be the same make and model as the one you have). Along with a shifter for the auto trans.
If its newer with all the electronics and stuff, then it would be alot more involved of a process.
Best thing you could probably do is just sell the vehicle with the manual transmission and buy a vehicle with an automatic transmission if that is what you want though.
I am assuming that this is the question, how do I convert a manual 540 to automatic? The answer is easy as I want to convert my automatic 540 to manual so we swap parts. philip@linkecu.com
whats required for swapping automatic to manual transmission in a Mitsubishi eclipse 1997
It is not easy but do-able. It is easiest and cheapest if you can find a doner vehicle that will furnish all parts required.
Converting a manual transmission to automatic transmission is not possible but you can replace a manual transmission to an automativ transmission . That is also an expensive deal.
Too much
Yes, a 2004 Mazda 6 can be converted from an automatic transmission to a manual transmission. However, it is very time consuming and will cost a lot of money to do this.
You sell the automatic and by one with a manual transmission. It's too expensive and too time consuming to swap them.
